Remember, Jesus said, “You receive not because you ask not.” So send me your questions. Let me know where you are getting stuck and let’s get your business or blog moving in the right direction. So without further adieu…
Should my opt in page be on my blog or should it be somewhere else? How expensive is it to have one of these thing made? Man, I had no idea how expensive all this stuff was! Any suggestions on saving money?
Those are very good questions Thomas. Starting an Internet business can be a money pit if you are not careful with your credit card, but there are some ways around it.
First of all, there are many ways to cut corners. Shopping carts can be expensive, so I suggest you use PayPal to collect payments when starting out. It’s a popular way to pay online and your clients will be able to use their PayPal accounts and credit cards.
To save more money, instead of buying a monthly shopping cart with autoresponder and affiliate program like 1shopping cart which will run you about $100 a month, go with Aweber.com for $19 a month, PayPal, which is free up front and a small charge on the back end. Then I recommend and use PayDotCom.com which is my shopping cart and payment solution. It integrates very easily with Aweber and PayPal. It processes your payments and provides you with an affiliate program for your products so other marketers can be affiliates for you and it’s free. I really like this service and feel no need to move up to anything else at this point in my business. It has served me well so far.
Using these cost cutting services can free you up to be able to purchase training to help you further your business and make more money. That’s the most important aspect – educate yourself.
Next, the opt in page. I suggest WordPress as your blog or website solution. It’s easy to learn and simple to use. You can build all your opt in and sales pages on a WordPress blog, too and it will grow with your business and do whatever you need it to do along the way. WordPress.org is free to install on your domain through your web hosting service (less than $8 a month) with a couple of clicks of your mouse. Real easy. I suggest an opt in form in the sidebar of your main site and your opt in page on a separate, stand alone WordPress blog with a keyword rich domain name. This way people will have another way of finding you through the search engines. Free traffic.
Once your prospect opts in you send them back to your main site to get their free gift. That way you are driving them back to your website with the tabs across the top and the sidebar so they will likely look around a bit before leaving. Solid marketing strategy there. You can use a free plug in called Exclude Pages to hide your giveaway pages.
Whew! That was a great question Tom, thanks for asking it!
