”I know you are a huge believer that WordPress is the easiest and best way to go when building a blog or website, but I’m concerned that I will outgrow it when my business gets really busy as I anticipate it will, and I’ll have to change again. Isn’t it better just to go to a different platform now?
Patsy, Patsy, Patsy! That is not something you will ever have to worry about, no matter how big your business becomes. You will not outgrow WordPress. WordPress works for the blogger who journals about her hamster, Petey, as well as it works for businesses like these… eBay, Sony, Pepsi, Best Buy, UPS, CNN, Barack Obama, Wall Street Journal, Mashable, Forbes and The New York Times just to name a few. Lots and lots of BIG businesses are finding the functionality of WordPress enables them to do so much more than other platforms. Stick with WordPress.
“I have a Facebook personal page, but want to be able to collect names and email addresses. How can I set up my fan page to do that? I know you say that we should outsource what we don’t know when we can, but I just am not there yet. What’s the best way to add an opt in form and personalize a fan page? ”
Hi Glenn, great question. If you using WordPress, there is a plug in that works great for personalizing your fan page. And best of all… it’s FREE!! Just install the Facebook Tabs plugin and you can set up your fan page right on your WordPress blog. …I know, right! The Facebook Tab plug in is as easy as setting up a blog post or new page on your WordPress blog.
There are paid options like SplashLab.com and TabSite.com for about $6.95 a month but the plug in is just as easy or easier to set up and it’s free.
That’s it for today. Keep those questions coming! I’d love to hear what you think of Q&A Thursday. What you think matters to me. Please leave your ideas and questions in the comments.
