Did you set a New Year’s resolution to lose weight and get healthy?
Maybe you decided you would run 4 days a week. Perhaps you intend to stop eating sugar and white starches altogether, do the 20 grams or less low carb high fat diet or go on a 500 calorie diet to lose the weight super fast before Valentine’s Day diet.
We’re a third of the way through January. So…how’s that working for you?
If you’ve quit already or are cheating to beat the band, don’t beat yourself up. Statistics say that only about 8% of resolutioners make it. You ain’t alone kiddo!
Never fear, there is a solution to the resolution!
A resolution means a firm decision to do or not to do something. Like Nike says “Just Do It!”. That’s not easy and it’s not always practical.
How about instead of a resolution that sets you up for failure you decide to do a “reset” instead?
So instead of killing your out of shape self trying to run 4 days a week you start out with walks and work your way up to running. Or instead of never eating sugar you stop drinking those 3-4 sodas a day, replace your table sugar with stevia and start reading labels so you can cut back on what you eat that contains sugar.
Let’s face it, if it’s too hard you probably won’t stick to it. It’s the way we’re wired. So ease into it. You didn’t get this way over night so give yourself permission to reset, not totally revamp.

But here’s the deal, you need to cut yourself some slack. You can lose weight, feel better and be healthier, just not always all at once. That’s just not sustainable. Resolutions…chuck em! And try a reset instead.
