You’ve heard that 80% of your immune system is in your gut.
Well, that’s exactly right. If your gut flora is out of balance, meaning too much bad bacteria that overtakes the good, then you are likely experiencing all kinds of health issues and symptoms that you would never relate to gut health. When your gut is out of whack it can cause an overgrowth of yeast which also causes a myriad of health issues.
Modern science is finally catching up with holistic medicine in understanding that so many health problems originate with poor gut health. Things like obesity, heart disease, auto-immune diseases, allergies, skin issues, migraines, depression, chronic fatigue and even some infertility just to name a few. There are over 200 known health issues caused by poor gut health.
So how your does your gut get out of balance?
Well, things like antibiotics, whether you take them when you are sick or ingest them through the foods you eat. NSAIDS both over the counter and prescription like Ibuprofen, Acetaminophen, Tylenol, Mobic, Motrin, Aleve, Celebrex, etc. may help with pain and swelling, but they cause your intestines to be inflamed which causes Leaky Gut Syndrome. This is teensy little tears in your gut where waste and toxins escape into your system. Common sense tells you that’s gotta cause loads of problems.
Processed foods and sugar are also big culprits.
So what do you do to get you gut in balance so you can enjoy better health again?
Some will tell you that you can eat your way back to a balanced gut, but honestly you can’t eat that much fermented foods, yogurt, etc to get back on track. It’s too little too late.
You need a good probiotic.
If you take the right probiotic, you could see a big difference in many health issues. In my personal opinion the right probiotic should have at least 5 strains of good bacteria, digestive enzymes as well as anti-fungal properties (for yeast overgrowth) to do all that you need it to do.
