I was reading the comments on one of my previous blog posts and temporary tattoo over at plusmin.com asked me a great question which inspired this post. T.T. asked how to keep all the great info that you find online organized? What do you do with it so you can find it when you need it?
When we first start our journey as online entrepreneurs we are sponges soaking up all the knowledge we can find from others who are more experienced in Internet marketing than ourselves. That’s the way it should be. As a matter of fact that’s the way it should always be no matter how long you’ve been at it. The problem is there is so much info out there that it’s easy to get information overload. We are attracted to every ‘shiny thing’ that glides across our screen. We save everything we find because we are not sure if at some point in time we might just need it. Every Internet marketer can relate to this, so don’t feel like the Lone Ranger. Heck, I still have to reign myself in sometimes.
Here are a few ideas to keep your computer from bogging down with excess audios, ebooks and reports.
1. Create folders in your inbox for things that clutter up your email. Either set it up so they are automatically sent there or quickly scan them to see if you need to delete or move to a specified folder so it’s not calling to you all day. That goes for all those audio replays you are going to get to someday. Just get them out of your way. Unsubscribe to those newsletters and emails that are a waste of your time. I sign up for things all the time, give the marketer a couple of opportunities to send me good content that applies to me and unsubscribe if they don’t.
2. Make separate folders in your documents for subjects like ebooks, reports, reports and ebook with resale rights, affiliate programs, list building, social media, audios, videos, etc. You may still have saved way too much stuff, but at least you will know where to find it.
3. Drop Box is a great place to store some things. Drop box is a free file sharing site that you can store some of the excess goodies on. That’s not actually it’s purpose, but it works. Of course it’s only free up to a certain capacity, then there is a charge.
4. Use a Flash Drive to store the information you want to keep. Make sure you have everything organized in files so you can find it when you look for it, but its not bogging down you computer and making you crazy.
If you have other ideas, we’d love to hear them! I welcome your questions and feedback, so please leave a comment below. If you found this to be of interest, your friends and followers probably will too. They will appreciate you for sharing it with them and so do I.
