Ever wish you had a natural home remedy for antibiotics instead of having to go to the doctor?
Antibiotics are a modern day scientific miracle, accept for when they’re not. Prescription antibiotics can wreak havoc on your Microbiome. In other words, your gut health where most of your immune system lives and does it’s thing.
Fortunately antibiotics kill off the bad bacteria that is making you sick or causing an infection. Hooray, right? Sorta, but it’s not necessarily a happy ending.
Unfortunately antibiotics kill off just as many good bacteria that we desperately need to keep our gut microbiome in balance so our immune system can do what it needs to do to keep us healthy from head to toe.
So what can we do if we get the crud or feel like we are getting a bit of an infection somewhere in our bodies? What if we feel like we are starting to get sick?
Run to the doctor for an antibiotic, right? Wrong in so many cases.
Don’t misunderstand, I do recommend you go to the doctor when you need to. God has supplied and intends us to use more than one route to healing and robust health. There are times when you should seek medical attention.
However, by taking a holistic approach to your health, you can learn to get in tune with your body and what it needs. So, if your head and your body tell you that you need to see a doctor, please do not hesitate!
But sometimes we abuse it because we were taught to do so. Doctors have over-prescribed antibiotics as a knee-jerk reaction so often over the last 60 or so years that our bodies are becoming immune to the stuff and it isn’t always effective anymore.
Actually it could make you sick.
Ever have to go back to the doctor more than once because the antibiotic they prescribed didn’t cut it? Every time we take a prescription antibiotic our bodies require anywhere from one to six months to recover, even if you are eating well and doing all the right things.
This also leads to what science calls “super bugs”, bacteria that has become resistant to antibiotics because of their over use.
And what if you have taken antibiotics over and over again for years and your diet is crap? Well, that’s a whole other can of worms there my friend.
Aside from a nutritious diet along with fermented foods like kefir, yogurt and kombacha that will replenish your gut flora, a good probiotic will go a long way in restoring a healthy gut balance.
Mr. Happy and I rarely go to the doctor anymore. We are almost never sick. That happened 7 years ago when we started taking our probiotic. We saw an immediate improvement in our immune response. Then a couple of years later I started getting into natural health, home remedies and cutting the toxins from our lives which included most prescriptions and over the counter medications.
Over the years we’ve been our own guinea pigs as I’ve strived to come up with the best home remedies for our natural home remedy medicine chest. Some things worked well and some we noticed no significant benefit so I just kept on studying, researching and tweaking until we had a winner.

One of the things that I felt compelled to have in our home remedy arsenal is a healthy and natural substitute for prescription antibiotics.
If we don’t feel well, like if Mr. Happy starts getting a sinus infection, which he was prone to do so often in the past. (In recent years they are few and far between), I just head to the medicine cabinet and grab the dropper bottle of natural antibiotics and start filling capsules.
I also encourage the use of Elderberry Syrup regularly and several times a day along with these antibiotic capsules when needed.
Here’s my Elderberry Syrup recipe.
So far this remedy has worked very well for us. I’d like to share that recipe with you.
