You’re thinking you’ll figure out what a sales funnel is one of these days.
You’ve got your WordPress blog up, your’re posting regularly and you are even doing a little affiliate marketing. You’ve made it so far without a sales funnel. There are so many other things to learn, do you really need to worry about it yet?
So, how’s that working for you? Are you growing your email list so you have a large community of fans who want to buy what you have to offer? Do you have products for sale and are people buying them so you have a steady stream of income?
Here’s what a sales funnel is and why you need one to create any kind of regular income.
The first part of the sales funnel is the largest. That’s because you need oodles and gobs of targeted subscribers who are interested in your free opt in offer. Your giveaway(s) should be very specific to your target market. This way only those who already have an interest in what you have to offer will sign up and those who don’t won’t. That’s the way you want it. Make sure your giveaway is of high quality. You want your subscribers to say “Holy cow! If the free stuff is this good, what’s the paid stuff like?!”
The next level of your sales funnel is low cost products – reports, ebooks, videos, courses, audios, etc. that are a “forgettable” price. One that most people wouldn’t think twice about spending. The purpose in this strategy is to offer something of great value that your prospects can test the waters so to speak, without much risk. Remember, they don’t quite know if they trust you with their hard earned money yet. Just because it’s inexpensive, it still needs to be high quality and a great value. Your prospects now move to your “buyers list”. (Yay!!)
This is where your mid-range priced products come in. Your upsells. Your next level of higher priced products. This is also where you start making suggestions for products that are complementary to your original products, business tools, products and courses that you don’t offer, but are a good fit for your buyers list so you recommend them using your affiliate link. Then you do something extra for purchasing through your link such as training them how to use it by offering a how to video or a short training call or webinar. I learned that from my coach Kelly McCausey, owner of Solo Smarts Blog & Podcast when she taught me how to use Amember if I bought it through her link.
You can do this with all kinds of online tools and services. For example, I coach people how to build their online business in the least techie way possible. If they decide later down the road they want to learn the techie stuff, I send them on to my brilliant technical geek friend who can teach them what they want and need to learn. And I earn commission for hooking them up.
Next you offer your highest end products and coaching services. As your sales funnel gets smaller and smaller, your buyers are fewer, but spend much more. They love you and want all that you’ve got! If you treat them right and give them tremendous value, you’ll get them here.
Don’t wait until “one of these days” to start setting up your sales funnel. Get started today. Your sales funnel is one of the most important factors of your business. Understanding it, setting it up and using it correctly can mean the difference between a trickle of money coming in and that new home on the beach you’ve been dreaming about.
