When’s the last time you grabbed an unhealthy food choice instead of a healthier one because you were in a hurry, famished or just didn’t feel like cooking a time consuming meal? This will totally sabatage your healthy eating or weight loss plan.
[tbpquotable]Having healthy foods prepared and prepped ahead in the fridge so better choices are easier than bad choices only makes sense.[/tbpquotable] Make it easier on yourself and your family by being prepared.
I always keep grilled chicken (browned on the stove with seasoning and olive oil) and well seasoned lean ground beef mixed 1/2 and 1/2 with ground turkey. ( I’m not crazy about ground turkey alone, but if you are go for it!) That way I always have something quick and much healthier to grab to snack on or for a quick meal.
You can do a little Google recipe research for fast n’ easy healthy chicken and ground beef recipes and have them on hand so you have a variety of meals to choose from quickly.
[tbpquotable]When you get back from the store, clean and prep your veggies so you are more likely to add them to whatever you are cooking. (Then do add them to everything!)[/tbpquotable] I store them in zip-locks so they take up less space. Honestly if I don’t do this many of the veggies I buy get thrown away.
I like to cook some Quinoa and some brown rice ahead so it’s there to grab, as well. You could do this with whole wheat or gluten free pasta too. Using mason jars or plastic containers you can make up several grab-n-go salads for lunches as well.
Not only does this make for better choices when you’re hungry or in a hurry, but it makes cooking a meal so much faster and easier with way less clean up!
