This question fits right in with our 30 Day Challenge – Become A Master At Growing Your Email List In Just 30 Days that’s happening on The Happypreneur Blog. It wasn’t actually next in line to be answered, but I thought it was a fitting opportunity to answer it. Hopefully it will help those participating on the challenge with day #2.

So, how about we jump right in!
I’ve been trying to write an ebook for my free giveaway to build my list. I’m not getting very far very fast. I’ve been working on this for several weeks now. I work full time at my J-O-B and write my ebook when I can fit it in. I also have to do the other marketing stuff you keep telling me I should do. How do you fit it all in?

Hi Walt. This explains why I haven’t seen you around lately. I’m wondering, is this an eBook becoming something that is substantial enough to use as a product? It sounds like it’s morphed into more than a giveaway.
I suggest that you put the eBook aside and continue to work on it when you can, but you need to focus on building your list and the marketing that drives traffic to your site and products or affiliate offers. Your list should be the #1 focus and you should spend most of your time marketing. About 70% + in my opinion and the opinion of most of the top marketers online.
If you live in a town of let’s say 2000 people, you rent some space, hang your sign and everyone comes to you because you are the only barber in town, well you’ve got it licked! Unfortunately, the internet is nothing like that. You are not a sure thing. There’s tons and tons of competition out there. People flit from one site to the next, never to be seen again. That’s why you need to get your opt in offer in place quickly or you’ve lost them all!
Here’s a few suggestions for a quick freebie. First keep in mind that it has to be good. I’m sure that’s where you are coming from with your eBook. You want it to be good so you just keep working and working on it and it just got away from you. Am I right? Anyway put the book aside for a bit and let’s look at a few ways to get your opt in offer up quickly.
If you have quite a bit of good blog content, you could put some of your posts together to form a Special Report or small eBook. It has to be quick and easy. Don’t spend a lot of time on this.
If you don’t have a lot of content yet, how about purchasing some PLR content from Melissa Ingold, Nicole Dean or Alice Selba? These are my top picks. I use PLR for all kinds of things. It’s inexpensive and oftentimes a lifesaver when time is a factor. And when isn’t it?
Private Label Rights come in all forms, such as; eBooks, Special Reports, Article packs, eCourses for home study, email courses, autoresponder series, etc. Heck I bought a bundle of IM tips from Alice just today to use in a variety of ways. Twitter, face book, cinch casts (cinch.fm), etc.
Buy something you can use for your giveaway, tweak it to give it your personality and TaDa! You’ve got yourself a freebie! This could be done in one evening after your J-O-B.
Some other suggestions are:
- Read a blog post or article and record it and give away the audio
- Make a short video or tutorial on how to do something
- Record a teleseminar or webinar and give it away (this is one of my favorites as you list build when you offer the free live training, then you offer it as your recorded opt in bribe as well – it’s a two-fer)
- A PLR mini-course
It’s wide open. You are only limited to your imagination. Use PLR wisely, but use it. It’s a real time saver. Don’t over think this one.
