Where would you be without your customers? The #1 most important key to business success is to take great care of your customers, for without them you wouldn’t have a business.
The holidays are the perfect time to show your gratitude and appreciation. It’s easy to do and sometimes a little token of your gratitude can go a long way toward creating a lifelong business relationship.
Here’s a few ways to show your customer appreciation and make them feel special during the holidays.
One of the most common ways to show customer appreciation is to give them a holiday gift. For years businesses have been giving away promotional goodies to their clients. We all end up with 2 or 3 calendars, pens, notebooks, coffee mugs filled with candy or magnets with company logos and contact information on them.
These small items that have value and can be used to market your business. They’re nice ideas. They don’t cost too much and they’re an easy way to say thank you.
However, they can also be kind of unimaginative.
If you want to be unique, and be remembered for giving you clients a thoughtful gift, how about stepping away from the marketing gizmos and give something that’s related to your business or your clients needs.
For example, if your niche is office organizing, you could send labels or a nice storage box to your clients. A pet niche could send samples of pet food, cutely wrapped pet treats, an adorable chew toy or even a grooming tool. If you’re in the fitness or health niche you could send a water bottle or a few hand wrapped energy bars. The thought you put into your holiday gift can go a long way toward endearing your clients to you. And it’s just a really nice way to say thank you! If you do something nice that you personally had a hand in, you’ll be remembered for it.
#2 Holiday Cards
Many businesses skip the whole gift giving thing because it can be pretty pricy. Instead, they fall back on a good old fashioned holiday card. This is a great way to say thank you and to show your appreciation. Many businesses these days don’t do this anymore so and it’s always nice to get cards in the mail, again you will stand out, especially if you give it the personal touch like hand writing a note inside each one.
If you don’t have the time for this personal touch, how about outsourcing it? You can hire an assistant to do the job for you. Remember, a personal message is more meaningful than a stamp or pre-printed message. It shows your clients that you really do care.
#3 Promotions and Discounts
Finally, how about giving your clients something they really want – a discount or a special promotion. For example, you could send a special promotion code to your customers this holiday season. Offer them something for free when they make a purchase. Make sure the promotion has a holiday message and demonstrates your appreciation for their business. If you don’t want to make the freebie contingent on a purchase, just send them a coupon or a note telling them how to collect their freebie. There are many ways you can make this a fun and much appreciated holiday gift.
When thinking about how to show your customer appreciation and gratitude this holiday season, consider what they would enjoy or use the most. Then follow through with a personal message that shows your appreciation. Take advantage of the season to strengthen your business relationships!
I’d love to hear what you are giving your clients this year. Please leave a comment and give us some fresh ideas!
