Last week, I did a promotion for Black Friday and Cyber Monday. The day before the promotion started, a competitor messaged me on Skype and told me she was going to see my sales figures in her rear view mirror on this promotion!
Huh, in essence she implied that she was going to smoke me in sales that weekend. Well, I must admit I responded with the first thing that came to mind “You’re on!” was my immediate response.
Then I began to sweat. She has a bigger list and has been working online longer than I have. What the heck was I thinking, letting her bait me like that?
I really had to snap myself out of the negative self-talk and start thinking and speaking the positives.
- This promotion had been well thought out and I was prepared
- I’d done my research
- My offer was really of value and benefit to my clients
- By making this offer I would help many people move forward in their online businesses
The promotion is over and we did it! My thanks to everyone who participated. It was a win-win situation. You won by getting tons of incredible training for pennies on the dollar and I won by saving face and proving that my community is awesome!
The lesson in all of this? Prepare, plan and do what’s best for your community and you will come out ahead every time. You may not have the highest numbers yet, but by really caring about your clients needs and offering big value, your business will continue to grow.
My competitor, well she called me and conceded yesterday. Today she’s flossing crow from her teeth.
