Do you ever wonder how some people have such a huge following? The kind that people will buy anything from. How do they do it? You’re working your butt off to get people to pay attention to you and you hear crickets and making very few sales. What gives?
I’m going to share my top 3 marketing secrets to attract your target market to you like a magnet, so hang on to your hats!
Marketing Secret #1
Effective marketing promotes what your product does, not what it is.
Yup, you heard me right. You should not be taking about your product. People do not want to be sold to. The great news is, they love to buy! So you have to pull them in with what your product can do for them.
For instance if you sell a weight loss product you could say something like “Swimsuit season is around the corner, you can get rid of those love handles and look great in bathing suit without doing hours of painful crunches.” Isn’t that a whole lot more attractive than saying buy my weight loss juice with triple berry extract and yada-yada ingredients?
If you sell a discount travel service you can promote the discount service to little or no avail or you can say something like “Do you want to take your kids on vacation this year, but you’re not sure you can afford it? Here are 5 budget friendly family travel destinations…” Then tell them about the different places they can take their families and paint a picture of how much fun and affordable it will be, without ever talking about your company or products.
Attract your target market with value. Get them interested before you start talking about your products.
Are you starting to get the picture? By talking about the result of your products rather than the actual product itself, you will pull in the people who want those exact results!
The whole idea is to build curiosity and mystery. Leave them wanting more. Once you draw them in with value, they will be curious about your product or service.
Your business is not your network marketing company. That is a product you sell, but it’s not your business.
Your business is YOU, your audience and how they perceive YOU.
Until you stop pushing your network marketing company and start branding and marketing YOU, people will not pay much attention to you. There is nothing of interest to them, they have no loyalty, they can buy your product from anyone online. When they do buy, it probably won’t be from you unless you change marketing strategies.
Google sends more people away from you than they ever will to you, when you talk about your company and products. Your prospects see you talking about your company and products, Google it and BAM…off down a rabbit trail they go, that does not lead back to you!
I learned this basic but extremely important marketing truth from Tyson Zahner, and I truly believe you MUST GET THIS to be successful in marketing your business.
Effective Marketing is NOT about promoting your specific product, service or opportunity directly…it’s about promoting valuable information that would attract the kind of person who would WANT OR NEED IT!

Marketing Secret #2
Repel the people you don’t want to attract and you will be more magnetic to the ones you do want to attract. Pretty simple. You are not talking to everyone. You’re product is not for everyone. Narrow it down to a very specific group of people and craft your marketing message just for them.
If you are too broad or generic, your message will not resonate with anyone. A generic blanket approach DOES NOT WORK in marketing.
Marketing Secret #3
Wrap every marketing message, advertisement and sales pitch in VALUE, VALUE, VALUE!
Educate your audience on the process and results not the product itself. In marketing we call that…
SELLUCATON… which is the process of selling through education. Giving free information that pulls them in and offers them value.
It’s not about selling them, as much as it is about educating them, giving them value, creating curiosity and interest until they’re ready to buy.
Then…when they’re ready to buy, they will buy from you!
Wrap your marketing message in curiosity, mystery, educate your leads, turn them into friends and give great value, over and over again. Become their go to person. That’s what good marketing is all about!
