Will The Real Happypreneur Please Stand Up?

Back in the day, I remember a TV show called “What’s My Line?”  It started out in black and white, then went to color and now there is a remake of it with Drew Whatshisname.  (Yeah wise a$$, I know that dates me – I was a little bitty kid, OK!!) Anyway, if you’ve stopped snickering about my age, (it’s a decade before Medicare kicks in, but I did just order my first meal off the senior menu at Denny’s. Ha! Bet you’re still paying full price! Who’s snickering now??)

My point is this… if people have to guess what you do and who you serve in your business, you’ve got a BIG problem. [Read more...]

Warning: Virus Alert – Internet Dangers

It’s the mamma hen wanting to protect her chick again.  I feel the need to warn you of the dangers that lurk all around us online, especially this time of year.

I attended a webinar last night about viruses on Skype, Twitter and Facebook and it was a real eye opener. I wanted to share some of the info with you. Hopefully it will save you grief in the future.

Last January my computer got a nasty virus that totaly wiped out my hard drive.  I had to reinstall windows and start from scratch. Fortunately I have an online an backup service or it would have been a real disaster.

That’s not something I’d want you to go through, so I thought I’d share what I learned with you.

Here are some of the recent warnings: [Read more...]

Social Media Marketing – Are You Being Consistent ?

As most of you know, I live in a little town much like Hooterville on the old television show Petticoat Junction.  Just a little country store like Sam Druckers minus the pickle jar, a bank, post office and gas station.  So when I say I live in the middle of a corn field, I mean it literally. As you can imagine, there’s not much to do here but watch the corn grow.

In the summer months I like to go to yard sales on Saturdays just for something to do. I see lots of people I’ve known all my life there.  It’s funny, but it gives me a sense of community. These are people I played with as a child, went to school with, their parents,  my old teachers. It makes me realize how important living in the community I grew up in is to me as I get older. It anchors me.

Thinking about this makes me realize how different we are in these digital times. It used to be that we got our news talking to our neighbors over the backyard fence, at neighborhood cook outs, from our front porches or school and community gatherings.

That was then…

Now, we talk on social media. [Read more...]

Your WordPress Blog – Is It A Virtual Yardsale?

Is your WordPress Blog one big mess?

I’m a sucker for a good yard sale.  Unless I’m in a hurry, I can’t drive past one without stopping. I guess that started back when my daughter was little. As a single mom of one child and the only provider,  there were no hand-me-downs or much of a clothing budget.  Plus, we lived in Florida…the yard sale mecca of the south! If you’ve ever spent any time there, you know what I’m talking about.  People move in and out of Florida at an alarming rate, so there are always really good yard sales, every day of the year.  Not just on Saturday’s like they have here in my little rural Illinois community.

This afternoon I headed into the big city (population 4,200) to run a couple of errands.  I noticed  several yard sales signs along the way. Well, old habits die hard and my grandson out grows his clothes as fast as he grows into them, so I decided to drive around and see what I could find.

As luck would have it, I did find a few nice articles of clothing for my lil’ guy, a rustic chair for my garden and the find of the day – a large ceramic pig wearing overalls. I’m a bit eclectic, so I just couldn’t resist! He’s such a big piggy that I could hardly carry him back to my van!

As I was driving home, I was reminded of a WordPress blog I came across this morning.  It dawned on me that it was a lot like a virtual yard sale.  [Read more...]

Blog Posts – Does How And When You Post Matter?

When writing your blog posts, do you only write when you have something to say or do you write blog posts ahead and schedule them to go out at a later time?

Let’s look at the difference…

First, let’s talk about scheduling.  As you know by now, I love WordPress.  One of the many reasons for my very public love affair is that WordPress enables me to write my blog posts in advance and automates when they are published on my blog.  I schedule them to run every Monday and Thursday to coincide with my newsletter.  This works really well for me because I can schedule several weeks out and not have to stress about deadlines.  This makes publishing my newsletter a more enjoyable experience. And because it’s not a scramble to get it done at the last minute, I can pass much of it off to my business assistant to do, giving me more time to do other things in my business. [Read more...]

Internet Success – Putting The Pieces Together In A Way That Makes Sense

Anybody can start an online business, unfortunately very few ever achieve internet success.

The $64,000 question is how can you make sure you are not one of those fatalities?

First, there are a few things that you need to bring to the table. If you are going to build a successful online business, you need to have persistence.  If you are going to quit when you try a few things and they don’t create income, you might as well go get a 2nd job at the 7-Eleven making slushies and call it a day.  Ignore those “overnight internet success on autopilot” stories. Most of them are bull$#!t. It takes time. Some see success quicker than others, but mostly it takes time and a persistent attitude. [Read more...]

Liz Tomeys Tax Man BlowOut Product Review

Normally I don’t write review posts, but I had to tell you about Liz Tomeys Tax Man BlowOut.

So here goes…

I have to admit that I was a bit afraid that the Tax Man BlowOut package was not going to live up to the all of the hype. I expected it to be good, as Liz always over delivers, but this is not good. It’s freakin’ AWESOME!! Really.

There is literally thousands and thousands of dollars in PLR products, niche site content (whole site content, not just a few articles),  a membership site set up for you to personalize, make your own and ready to start selling memberships to your clients. The price is only $47 for all of this.

I am bowled over at the amount of content in this package.  I’ve been shouting it from the rooftops since I bought it.  This is one HUGE. [Read more...]

why should I use wordpressWhy Should I Use WordPress?

OK, you took the plunge and decided to take your Network Marketing business online.  Or maybe you have chosen to do Direct Sales. Now you wonder what all the hullabaloo is about setting up your own blog site. After all, my company provides me with a nice website, so why should I use WordPress, you wonder?

What’s wrong with my company site?

I know your company’s website is very professionally done, showcasing your cosmetics line, kitchenware or maybe nutritional supplements in an enticing way that you can’t. After all, you can’t afford to hire a professional photographer or a web designer to put it all together as beautifully as your company does. [Read more...]
