Day 3 of Publish Your Kindle Book This Week.
In the previous 2 posts we’ve gotten our Kindle book started. If you are just joining us, yesterday’s post was all about finding blog posts and re-purposing them to create and publish a Kindle book this week. We’d love to have you join us and publish a book of your own this week. We got started by going through our blog content and finding a topic for our book. You can get the skinny on that here. On the second day we started putting the book together.

Now, on to day 3…
By now you’re ecover is being designed and the first part of your book is set up in Word. We will do the table of contents last, so hold off on that. We are ready to move on the the next step. We are going to skip the table of contents for now and come back to it at the end.
- STEP 7
Start adding your chapters. Simply copy and paste. Add each chapter in the order that you want them in your book. Bold the titles and increase the font size for the title. I usually use 12pt or 14 pt size font for the page text. That’s totally up to you. There’s no steadfast ruling on this stuff. Whatever works for you. Just don’t go nuts and make your page text 20pt. thinking it will make for more pages. That’s not gonna fly!
Be sure that the titles to your chapters are headings in Word (In Word – select Home, then Styles, then Heading)
- STEP 8
Add one chapter at a time and edit each one thoroughly before adding the next. Be sure that your links work and are up to date. Add as many links as you like. This is a great way to send people to your blog, affiliate products and your products. If you mention a colleague or mentor in you chapter, check to see if they have a generic affiliate link. This way when they click that person’s name it will take them to their blog and you will be cookied in should they purchase from them. This is a great way to do it without being overly promotional.
Be sure you read every word when editing. Typos, misspellings and lousy grammer are bad Juju when publishing a book. Makes you look like you have no business publishing a book.
Be double sure that you check for and remove references to other blog posts and your call to action where you ask your reader to leave a comment.
Once you are satisfied with each chapter, add the next. Be sure they flow into each other and that they don’t change topic so drastically that it seems choppy and out of context. Adding a few sentences to the end of one chapter and the beginning of the next will help to transition into a new chapter if needed. Remember to insert a page break at the end of each chapter.
- STEP 9
Write your conclusion. Wrap it up nicely and tie it in a pretty bow. Reiterate what they’ve just read in a paragraph or two. If you have included any affiliate links in your book, be sure to add a simple disclaimer in a new paragraph. Doesn’t have to be a page long, just that if they purchase from any of these links, you may receive a commission.
