It’s been a while since I’ve posted on The Happypreneur Blog. I’ve had good reason.
I would not have been authentic, that it wouldn’t come from a place of integrity. But I’m going to explain that now as candidly as I can.
As an Internet Marketer, Network Marketer and Network Marketing Coach I certainly should be able to practice what I preach, right? And in the past I have always been authentic in doing so, however that wasn’t the case for a while.
More than a year ago my mother took a turn for the worse and I was her only caregiver. I had to be available 24 hours a day. Not that she needed 24 hour care, but I couldn’t stray far or for long. As she got weaker and her dementia worsened she wouldn’t even get herself a drink or water or eat on her own. This kept me pretty tied down.
I teach people how to build their network marketing business online using social media. I also have my own MLM business.
Here’s the rub…
I wasn’t practicing what I teach. My mother had monopolized all of my time. Well, not all of it, but I was physically and mentally exhausted all the time. I wasn’t fitting my business into the nooks and crannies of my life, I let it slip away. I continued to have a nice flow of income for many months while not working my business, but eventually that faded into the sunset.
My mother is now doing well in a nursing facility, where she has the skilled nursing and activities she needs. I couldn’t ask for a more caring and attentive environment. Due to dementia she has no concept of time, so is very content.
This left me with lots of time on my hands and a burning desire to rebuild my business. I literally had to start over. My thriving team had dwindled to nothing, my customers had dried up and I was back at the beginning once again.
So I started all over again from square one.
Every network marketing company tells you to make a warm market list. A brain dump of everyone you have ever known. People you may have influence with. I had already burned through my circle of influence the first time around. There was no one left. Well not many anyway. So what was I to do?
I rolled up my sleeves, dug in my heels, learned some new social media marketing skills and went to work!
It took me all summer and into the fall, but I rebuilt my entire business on social media alone.
My business is back to where it was before I deserted it. It took some real effort to learn and put into practice my new marketing skills, time to build up momentum again, but I did it! I’ve built my business not only once but twice! (Not something I recommend, it was much harder the 2nd time around)
If I can do it twice, you can do it once, for sure! I’m back to coaching and training again here at The Happypreneur as well and it feels great!
So stop by often because I am going to teach you how I did it the 2nd time around using Facebook, email and my smart phone! Until next time.
