I have a story to tell you…
Once upon a time there was this woman who wanted and needed to build a successful online home business. She worked and struggled and put in ridiculously long hours to try to figure out how to build relationships and make money, to no avail. She knew she had it in her to make it happen if she could just figure out how to fit all the pieces together. But time was running out, the big bad wolf was knocking at my, I mean her door.
Alright, you got me. This story is about me. And this story is about YOU.
How do I know what you are going through? Because I am you. Most of us have a very hard time figuring all this internet and techie stuff out. It takes a while. There is no such thing as overnight success. But for some of us, it takes longer than others. I remember being so frustrated as I watched other marketers who started when I did in the very same coaching program, whiz past me to make their mark and a six figure income when I wasn’t even paying my expenses. I did a lot of bitching and whining – poor me :^( I was working so hard and doing all the right things, why wasn’t I seeing the same level of success?
If you are doing everything you can and following what successful people tell you to do on your blog, social media and marketing strategies but you’re still hearing crickets, then what?
You keep doing what you know to do then you add the secret sauce on top and watch your business blossom!
What is that ingredient you eagerly ask? It’s simple – Putting your self out there in a very big way. So many of us have confidence issues that we hesitate to do just that. But not getting out there will and does hold you back. There will be nothing to make you stand out from the crowd of a gazillion other marketers who hold back and are afraid to put themselves out there. You will stand in the shadow of those who have gotten over their fear of what people might think or their shyness and just went for it. Fear be damned! That’s what you have to do.
All of this started to change for me when I went to my first live event. I didn’t have the money, but felt such a strong pull to go that I couldn’t ignore it. So I loaded up the van, and drove to Orlando, Florida. I was prepared to sleep in my van if I had to, I just knew this was something I had to do for my business. I knew in my gut that I need to go and was prepared to do whatever it took. Whatever it took. Are you?
Fortunately, an online acquaintance of mine was there with her hubby, had a condo for the week and took pity on me. They took me in and put me up on their couch. I will forever be grateful to you Pattie and Rich. Thank you for not letting me sleep in my van! Pattie and I have become the best of friends and talk all the time. She lives in Canada and I in Illinois, but we get together on Skype every few days and as often as we can in person.
That leads me to my point. It doesn’t matter how old you are, what size or how pretty you perceive yourself to be or not be. Your prospects want to get to know you. That’s how you build relationships and get clients. If you don’t let them get to know you, they will spend there money with those who do. Period.
I started getting out there with that event in Orlando. Now most of the live events I attend are the NAMS Conferences in Atlanta. I go every February and August. This is where I’ve learned the value of having an extended family of fellow online marketers, of being part of a community of like minded people. It’s where I realized and finally understood why others had outpaced me and saw success before I did.
It’s where I have the most “AhHa” moments in my business. NAMS has enabled me to personally get to know people like David Perdew, Nicole Dean, Connie Regan Green, Kelly McCausey, Christine Cobb, Helen Raptoplous, Kathleen Gage, Susanne Myers and Willie Crawford, just to name a few. These are people who have seen BIG success. Without NAMS, what are the chances I would ever be able to sit across the table from any of these wonderful folks and share a meal and a few laughs, let alone become friends? Not likely.
So, why am I telling you this story? Because I want you to have the same opportunity to see what’s possible for your business, to have a sense of community and family, build relationships and partnerships and to see and be a part of the bigger picture.
Between now and the end of the month you can go to NAMS for only $79.00 up front. You don’t have to make a big investment. The hotel rooms are gorgeous and rates reasonable. I’d be happy to help you find a roommate to share hotel expenses. If there is any way possible you can go, you really should. I’d love to see you there.
I’m offering a free group mastermind for my community – we’ll do our own breakout session and share ideas and solutions to help you with your business.
Please contact me and let me know that you want to participate and I’ll add you to the list. There will be limited room for this personal mastermind session, so let me know as soon as you can. I can’t wait to meet you in person!
