Social Media Solutions – Using Twitter For Business

Are you having trouble with  social media? Does the thought of tweeting on Twitter or posting on Facebook give you hives? If so, you are not alone. Most new online entrepreneurs find themselves at a loss when it comes to using social media for their business. Most tend to put off using Twitter for as long as they possibly can.

Using Twitter for business is really fun and easy once you get the hang of it. In the beginning it can be frustrating. It can feel like you are talking to yourself. You tweet about your website and your products to no avail. You blast your link every chance you get,  but no one seems to notice. Sometimes it can feel like a total waste of time. In reality plastering your link on social media is a waste of time. Let’s talk about how using Twitter for your business is very beneficial.

When setting up your Twitter account be sure to use a recent photo of yourself, not your dog, your children or grandchildren, no matter how adorable they may be. People want to see what you look like, to be able to put a face to a name. A goofy cartoon character simply will not cut it.

Next, you’ll want to write an attention getting bio. Your bio should include a link to your website, opt in page or sales page. Be sure to inject a little personality into your bio. You don’t want it to sound like an advertisement. No one wants to follow someone like that. People follow people because they want to engage with them, learn from them and to be inspired.

Now, you’ll want to find others in your niche that you would like to follow. You can find people in your niche by using Tweetadder.com. You can also search for people in your niche by typing their name in Twitter search. See who they follow and who is following them. You can usually find good targeted people that way, then follow them. The more people you follow the more followers you will get.

Next, it’s time to tweet. Twitter posts are called tweets. They are no more than 140 characters in length. This means you will have to keep your tweet short and sweet. The idea is to create interest, to inspire, to encourage, engage and serve others. You must always offer value to those who follow you. Try to keep your tweets at 120 characters if possible so others can re-tweet your posts without editing.  Most times people will not take the time to edit so you lose the opportunity for others to give you extra exposure by re-tweeting.

Using social media should never be about how much money you can make. It should be about how you can serve others. If you always keep that in mind, in time profit will follow. Social media is all about connecting with others and building relationships. People buy from those they know, like and trust. Gone are the times when buyers readily spent money with people and companies they know nothing about. Building relationships is crucial to the growth and survival of your business.

There was a time when costly advertising was the only way to reach your target market; the only way to increase your bottom line. Social media enables us to not only reach our target market, but to interact with them at no cost. That is the beauty of social media. It’s free!

The currency of today’s economy is connection. Building relationships is a very valuable asset in business today. That’s why Twitter is so important. So get started today! Start offering to help others. Be an encourager. Inspire others to me the best they can be.

Be sure you re-tweet what others have to say that is of benefit to your followers. Be sure to recognize those who re-tweet or mention you in their tweets. Suggest a good blog post or articles to others. Make connections by introducing like-minded people to one another. Become a valued resource. The more you do for others, the more it will come back to you.

Twitter Isn’t Easy For Some; 10 Twitter Secrets To Making Twitter Work For You

The purpose of Social media is to build relationships.  It’s called social for that reason. Twitter is one of the largest and most widely used social medias in existence today.  It is used for business and personal interaction  worldwide.  You can instantly talk to Aunt Harriet in Australia or a customer in Bangkok about his order.

One of the most frequent comment from my clients concerning Twitter is “I don’t know what to say or do on Twitter.”

Here are the 10 secrets to making Twitter work for you:

  • Twitter is a social media used for both personal and business interaction.  Therefore, don’t use this media to blast your links to buy your products.  Yes, you can do that, but I suggest the 80/20 rule of thumb.  80% interaction and relationship building and 20% selling.
  • Build a relationship with others.  Be engaging, entertaining and helpful.  People buy from those they know, like and trust.  Talk to people in your niche and who are interesting to you.  Ask questions, show interest in what they have to say.
  • Be authentic.  When are yourself, others are drawn to the genuine you, not the person you are trying to portray.  They can tell the difference, so just be yourself.
  • Use a photo of your self, even if you are not comfortable with putting yourself out there.  Others want see what you look like. While your dogs and children are cute, they are building a relationship with you.
  • Retweet what others are saying often.  If it’s interesting to you, it will be interesting to some of your followers and it brings you in the radar of the person you are retweeting.  Make sure when others retweet something you tweeted that you give them recognition.
  • Follow more people in your niche.  Take a look at who the leaders in your niche are following and follow some of them.
  • Tweet your blog posts and helpful tips.
  • Tweet other peoples blogs and web pages of interest.
  • When tweeting something you think others might want to retweet, make sure you use no more than 120 characters so it’s simple to  retweet.  Most won’t take the time and effort to edit.
  • Have fun!  You will meet some incredible friends, colleagues and JV partners along the way.  Enjoy building and growing these valuable relationships.

How To Use Twitter To Build Your Business

Twitter is an excellent way to connect with your community, find new prospects and get the word out about your business.  With more and more people using the internet as their primary means of keeping their hand on pulse of news and current events, Twitter is more valuable than ever.  If you are in business, you’ll need to learn how to use Twitter effectively.

First you will need to open a free Twitter account and choose a Twitter name.  Be sure to be true to your branding when selecting your name.  If your company and website use your name then you must follow suite.  If your business has a name Sears or Fashion Bug, then you will want to use your business name there as well.  Keep your branding consistent in everything you do.

Now you must set up your profile.  Use the logo or photo that you use in your other branding.  Again stay consistent.  You want people see your logo or photo and recognize you.  If Nike used a photo of the CEO of the company’s dog or your kids you would have no idea what company it was, would you?  Of course not.  You know them by their logo and their “Just do it” slogan.  The same applies for your own business branding.  However, remember that Twitter is used for relationship marketing.  If you are marketing yourself and what you do within that company or you are the company, you may want to use your own photo and name.

Now you will need to write a Bio about yourself or your company.  If you are the company simply use a good keyword rich tagline and perhaps a bit about your interests.  Then you will put in your URL or giveaway.  If you are in Affiliate Marketing, this is a perfect place to put the link to the opt in page of what you are currently promoting.

Next you can change the background if you choose. This option will be in your settings.  You can also have a web designer add your logo to the background.

You will want to select a number of people to follow.  Pick people in your niche.  To find people to follow, type in names or key words associated to your niche in the search bar to get started.

Now you are ready to tweet.  Tweets are up to 140 characters long.  It can be a challenge to say what you want to say in only 140 characters, but it’s usually not a problem.

Remember you’re goal is to build relationships.  It’s called a social network because that’s what it is designed for. So be social.  Engage people, tweet things of interest, be interested in what others have to say and reply to others often.  Make conversation, get to know people and have fun.  You are not there to blast the link to your products constantly.  It’s alright to do so, but you must do more engaging than selling.  People buy from those they know like and trust.  Get to know others and the sales will come.
