Baby Are You On Googles Spammer Hit List?

Yep, maybe I’m on that list, too.  Many accidental spammers are on Google’s radar these days. Gone is the time when we would get away with lot’s of duplicate content out there in the web-o-shpere.

One of the big ways to get on Google’s Spammer hit list is to have your content pinged by too many pinging services.  This causes too many duplicate pings, a red flag to Google since their Panda update, cracking down on too much poor quality duplicate content out there. [Read more...]

Have You Got Some Serious Issues?

Don’t get snippy, I’m talking about WordPress issues.

Have you played with the code or installed a script on your WordPress blog and now it’s all screwed up?

I Was Banging My Head On The Desk…

I’m talking about WordPress plugins.

One of those little critters had me banging my head on my desk for 2 days! Actually, it had my assistant banging hers on the wall, lol.  She sent me an email saying so.

Honestly, I already had a headache from aMember.  You see, I’ve installed aMember membership software and my assistant Crystal and I have been setting up all of my products on aMember, which has a bit of a learning curve.  Once you get it figured out it’s a piece of cake, but until them – head banging. Now that it’s all set up I totally love it and recommend it. I now have a bonafide affiliate program instead of using JVZoo. Yippee!

Anyway, we were having issues with some of the functions of aMember.  They worked when we set it up and then suddenly they didn’t. It was making us crazy. [Read more...]

Screwy WordPress Plugins Making You Nuts?

Preventing WordPress Plugin Issues

By Guest Contributor, Kasey Traeger

As much as we all love WordPress, there are times when it can be a real pain in the you-know-what. Most frequently, this posterior pain is caused by one or more plugins that haven’t learned how to play nicely with each other or that haven’t been told how to work with the newest version of WordPress which you just installed.

A question was recently posed from a reader asking if there was a way to know before-hand whether a plugin was likely to cause problems with her website. Although there are no totally definitive ways to know ahead of time about the interactivity between a plugin and everything else in your WordPress site, there are a few steps you can take to minimize the likelihood that you’ll install a problematic plugin. Cool WordPress Plugin – TinyMCE Advanced

In the massive WordPress Plugin world, sometimes it’s easy to go overboard.

Which plugins should you keep in your toolbox no matter what type of blog you have or how many?  One of them is the TinyMCE Advanced.  This super duper plugin is one of the best plugin finds for my WordPress blog that I’ve ever found.  It was totally frustrating to me as a new blogger to have so few options and so little control over how my posts and pages looked.  In the basic WordPress editor, there isn’t much you can do to spiff things up. Your WordPress Blog – Is It A Virtual Yardsale?

Is your WordPress Blog one big mess?

I’m a sucker for a good yard sale.  Unless I’m in a hurry, I can’t drive past one without stopping. I guess that started back when my daughter was little. As a single mom of one child and the only provider,  there were no hand-me-downs or much of a clothing budget.  Plus, we lived in Florida…the yard sale mecca of the south! If you’ve ever spent any time there, you know what I’m talking about.  People move in and out of Florida at an alarming rate, so there are always really good yard sales, every day of the year.  Not just on Saturday’s like they have here in my little rural Illinois community.

This afternoon I headed into the big city (population 4,200) to run a couple of errands.  I noticed  several yard sales signs along the way. Well, old habits die hard and my grandson out grows his clothes as fast as he grows into them, so I decided to drive around and see what I could find.

As luck would have it, I did find a few nice articles of clothing for my lil’ guy, a rustic chair for my garden and the find of the day – a large ceramic pig wearing overalls. I’m a bit eclectic, so I just couldn’t resist! He’s such a big piggy that I could hardly carry him back to my van!

As I was driving home, I was reminded of a WordPress blog I came across this morning.  It dawned on me that it was a lot like a virtual yard sale.  [Read more...]
